Sachin Tendulkar has been a great motivation for me: Yuvraj Singh

The germ-cell cancer out of his system, Yuvraj Singh paid rich tribute to Sachin Tendulkar, who has continued to motivate and mentor Yuvraj through the past few years of injuries and form issues.

"I was in touch with Sachin while he was in Australia. He has always inspired me. I wanted to be part of the team when Sachin got his 200 in ODIs, got his 100th hundred but unfortunately I was not there. I was there in thought and congratulated him," Yuvraj said.

On the recent meeting between the two in London, Yuvraj said: "It was great to see him in London. I didn't want this to come out but media would have known. I was delighted to see him. He has been a legend in Indian cricket... It was a great he came all the way to see me."

Yuvraj also had kind words for India's new vice-captain Virat Kohli. "He is a very special kid. I have learnt from him. His focus and work ethic is immense. I ask myself why I did not have a work ethic like him. At his age, you can be vulnerable but he is very focused."
