Update as on Wednesday : After bowling out Baroda for 271, hosts Mumbai batted again and piled up 171/1 to take an overall lead of 545 runs with a day to go in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal clash here at Wankhede stadium on Wednesday. The 39time Ranji champions after gaining a mammoth first innings lead of 374 runs didn’t enforce the follow on and they have now advanced to the semi-final where Services, Punjab and Saurashtra will be joining them.
Mumbai who declared first innings at 645/9 showed no intent for an outright win, which wasn’t necessary as first innings lead is enough to progress. Mumbai skipper Ajit Agarkar had indicated after the end of day three play that they may not enforce follow on. “We have some tired legs,” he had responded on Tuesday.
