A stuperndous performance by Jacques Kallis failed save the hosts from a humiliating 27 runs defeat against Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians elected to bat first after winning the toss against Kolkata Knight Riders. Mumbai suffered first blow in the form of Sachin Tendulkar, who was dismissed by Shaki al Hassan at the score of just two runs.
This was the first time when KKR bowlers has the opportunity to celebrate as after this Rohit Sharma and Herschelle Gibbs gave no chance to them to rejoice. Both of them hit round the stadium to rain runs. Both of them built up an unbeaten 167 runs partnership for the second wicket to take Mumbai Indians to 182 runs. Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 109 off just 60 deliveries and Gibss' 66 off 58 helped Mumbai Indians to put up 183 runs target against the hosts at Eden Gardens.
